Motor yacht CLOUD 90 project designed by Marco Casali for the “Benetti Design Innovation Project”

October 19, 2012

The impressive megayacht CLOUD 90, in addition to the beautiful motor yacht Amarcord 56 and the superyacht Principessa 72, represents one of the three new designs, developed by the Italian designer Marco Casali for the “Benetti Design Innovation Project“. For the creation of these amazing projects, Marco Casali took motivation from the 140th anniversary of the Benetti shipyard, introducing a range of designs that are rooted in the history of the brand itself.

The magnificent Cloud 90 yacht project represents a challenge in the future (tomorrow), but still leaving aesthetic traces of the historical memory of the Benetti yard.

“A cloud does not know why it moves in just such a direction and at such a speed […] , but the sky knows the reasons and the patterns behind all clouds, and you will know, too, when you lift yourself high enough to see beyond horizons.”

R.Bach

Luxury yacht Cloud 90 is a project that wants to imagine the yachts of the future.

The project idea was born from the desire to suspend a cloud above a hull and lock it with a giant side reinforcement exaltation of the Benetti heritage.

The upper deck with its fully glazed partitions is one giant free plan, like the deck of an aircraft carrier available to the general well-being of the guests. The wide open spaces are home to two swimming pools, one forward and one aft surrounded with their entertainment areas. All the perimeter of the bridge is left free to give life to a running path of almost 200 meters half of a Olympic ring!

The hanging cloud, painted in white, black or silver, is the residence of the owner with 360° panoramas and with large terraces on both sides. There are numerous ancillary spaces for relaxation available to owner in his private deck, from a billiards room to the private lounge, from the office staff to the massage area.

Well-being is seen as state of the art of the time on board, a comfortable gym and a SPA  are available for guests on the lower deck to complement the many services offered in the outside decks.

Direct access from the sea to the boat can be through the water garage that evokes inside the canopy of the Villa Adriana and allows guests to come and go through a completely private area. The space of the water garage can be transformed into the third pool with sea water and against-water swimming.

The outdoor pool deck is suspended on the cockpit so as to illuminate the aft entrance of the main deck through the water. It recalls the Roman cavea and the spaces for meditation and relaxation of the ancient baths, large openings under the pool generates through the water magnificent play of light.

Three different garages creates space for all the tenders and the water toys.

A large-scale helical ramp done in a rationalist style connects the various bridges and helps to illuminate directly the main and the lower deck.

Motor yacht PRINCIPESSA 72 project designed by Marco Casali for the “Benetti Design Innovation Project”

October 19, 2012

Influenced by the 140th anniversary celebrated by the prestigious Italian builder Benetti, the Italian designer, Marco Casali, introduced a range of designs that are rooted in the history of the brand itself. Created for the “Benetti Design Innovation Project“, in addition to the spectacular superyacht Principessa 72, there is the beautiful motor yacht Amarcord 56, well as the impressive megayacht Cloud 90.

Marco Casali has revised the traits of the projects of the last 10 years (today) focusing on a profoundly innovative functional scheme and on the evolution of the typical sinuous lines of the Benetti yachts in the superyacht Principessa 72 project.

“Grace is beauty in motion.“

G.E.Lessing

The project of the Principessa 72 yacht starts from the analysis of the last ten years Benetti yachts proportions with the intention to enhance two peculiar characteristics: the slender line and the grace.

These ships have in fact always been distinguished by this point and we wanted to enhance it as much as possible by moving the masses towards the stern, thus generating a beach area with swimming pool in the bow area. The pool exploiting  the lift of the bow creates a bridge offset that generates a large volume in the underlying area used as a second garage and a maneuvers area.

The owner’s cabin was placed in the heart of the Principessa 72 yacht project, in the middle of the upper deck, the guest cabins abandoned the lower to be arranged on the upper one with the ability to be equipped with terraces fixed or mobile.

A second staircase connects the guest area with the master suite through a “pool saloon” directly facing the pool itself and divided into two areas between indoors and outdoors, both characterized by a great privacy.

The side reinforcements and the aft ends of the bridges were modeled and redesigned with the intent to enhance the slender line. The sundeck and the sky deck conveniently connected generate a penthouse sundeck, alternative ,depending on the weather or mooring / panoramic views, to the beach sun deck at the bow.

Even the garages are double, one forward, the other at the aft, so it is possible to accommodate up to 4 large tenders or there is a  possibility to transform one of it into a spa or a gym. The lower deck is dedicated to the crew area and hosts also an easy access to the sea for guests, extra available space is left to accommodate a movie theater or the seventh guest cabin.

Motor yacht AMARCORD 56 project designed by Marco Casali for the “Benetti Design Innovation Project”

October 19, 2012

Latest design developments of the talented Italian designer, Marco Casali, include three new exciting concepts for the “Benetti Design Innovation Project“, one of which is the beautiful motor yacht Amarcord 56. The other two projects are the spectacular superyacht Principessa 72, as well as the impressive megayacht Cloud 90. For the creation of all three of these unique projects, Marco Casali was inspired by the 140th anniversary of the Benetti shipyard, presenting a range of designs that are rooted in the history of the brand itself.

Based on this idea Marco Casali took the historical lines of the Benetti ships (yesterday) reinterpreting them in a modern key, both from an aesthetic and a functional point of view, generating the luxury yacht Amarcord 56 project.

“Once we discover how to appreciate the timeless values in our daily experiences, we can enjoy the best things in life.”

J.K.Jerome

The idea behind the Amarcord 56 yacht project was the reinterpretation in a contemporary style of the timeless appeal of the Benetti ships of the ‘70s.

Amarcord 56 superyacht project

Marco Casali extracted the landmarks such as the shear line and the rounded  stern with reverse angle, the slender line and the reduced volume in the transverse direction and reintegrated them into a new context.

The reference to the Benetti boats as Galù, a true icon of the times, was the starting point, but Marco Casali wanted to review the entire functional layout. For doing this, the studio put the owner’s cabin in a forward position with full beam section softened by two terraces. Two further guest cabins are located on the upper deck to appreciate the visibility and the achievable  windows, both cabins can be equipped with  folding terraces.

The stern was lengthened escaping the alignment with the upper deck for obtaining a raised  beach area that works as a link between the sea (accessible from two side stairs opening the stern platform) and the upper deck connected with a triumphant central stairway. It defines therefore a longitudinal continuous space that combines the aft platform with the large sundeck.

The alternation between the symmetrical side stairs and the large central one creates a type of “renaissance effect” in the aft view enhancing the communication between the bridges too often reduced to a mere functional system.

The elevation of the beach area on the main deck also provides more privacy to the cockpit.

Docking maneuvers have been moved to the lower deck, leaving available the entire part of the main deck’s aft to the guests.

The kitchen is located on the lower deck, directly related to the crew area while two tenders  can be comfortably accommodated in the garages placed at the stern and at the bow of the Amarcord 56 yacht.

The geometries are deliberately clean, simple, linear and masses are rounded and graceful. The length of almost 56 meters is underlined by the great slender line of the hull at the bow of the superyacht Amarcord 56 marking the marine vocation of the project.

The interiors of the Amarcord 56 yacht project are designed  by the “marine style”, almost forgotten nowadays, yet so rich in character and charm.
