Traditional Dutch send-off for the NIRVANA superyacht

Savouring raw herring with a glass of good Dutch beer – this is nirvana for the Dutch! Superyacht NIRVANA (Y707), recently launched by OCEANCO shipyard, is a 88.50-metre vessel that received a real Dutch send off on the April 18th. Following her formal launch party, the crew of the motor yacht Nirvana were invited to an intimate farewell party where they could participate in the famous raw herring ritual.

The Owner’s representatives, the Captain and his crew together with the Oceanco team gathered alongside NIRVANA yacht to celebrate the culmination of many months of intense and professional cooperation among all involved. During the festivities, the Oceanco team thanked the Owner’s representatives and the crew for their outstanding teamwork. Captain Brett Fillis, for his part, warmly repaid the compliment to everyone who had been involved in this great venture, offering special commendation to his crew for the fantastic job they did in receiving the yacht and getting her ready for sail in a very short time span.

Motor yacht NIRVANA is currently cruising in the Mediterranean where she will remain for her first summer season. We look forward to sharing more news about NIRVANA with you soon.

Feadship Superyacht HAMPSHIRE II leaves the construction shed

Following her christening in April, the brand-new Feadship custom motor yacht HAMPSHIRE II has now left the construction hall. The timeless 78.50-metre superyacht Hampshire II created an imposing impression as the doors of the hall opened. The employees as well as the watching crowds had the chance to see this phenomenal Feadship vessel for the first time in daylight. After being cautiously launched, and with the addition of her mast construction, Hampshire II looked truly magnificent.

Built for an experienced Feadship client who has a genuine passion for action and sports, this latest addition to the global Feadship fleet sets new standards in terms of her facilities and craftsmanship. Hampshire II yacht is full of adventure, reflecting her owner’s rich involvement in a project which he described as a tremendous and fun experience. The helicopter landing platform, for example, can be transformed into a playing field for basketball, tennis, baseball, badminton and football, with a giant net around the deck to ensure continuity of the games.

This is one of many unusual features onboard this bespoke Feadship, the split-level design of which maximises the volume and outdoor space. On the sundeck, for instance, a crow’s nest placed atop the mast is reached by a two-person elevator and offers panoramic views high above the water. For the truly adventurous, a zip wire is connected to the mast to which one can tie a rope and slide at breathtaking speed from the crow’s nest down to the water.

Superyacht Hampshire II also has a phenomenal beach club with two platforms that open up either side of the yacht in addition to the swim platform at the transom. A swimming ladder descends from the stern hydraulically while the beach club itself has been finished in a driftwood style. The whole area is very well incorporated with the deck above, which includes a skylight surrounded by seating.

The contemporary overall design by Redman Whiteley Dixon and Feadship incorporates balconies on either side: Seating terraces for the owners and wing stations adjacent to the wheelhouse. There is a wealth of fine detailing in the design, including the nameplate on the glass panel in the recessed part of the bridge deck fashion plates.

Oceanco delivers the 88.5m motor yacht NIRVANA (project Y707)

At the end of April 2012, the prominent Dutch builder, Oceanco, successfully delivered its 88.5m (290´) motor yacht Nirvana, previously known as project Y707 to her Owner. With naval architecture by the Oceanco´s in-house team in collaboration with renowned Azure Naval Architects, the Nirvana superyacht boasts both exterior as well as interior by well known Sam Sorgiovanni. This breathtaking vessel is now anchored at the Yacht Club of Antibes, along with the 76m Oceanco luxury yacht Anastasia (project Y703).

Nordhavn 86 motor yacht Zembra (ex hull N8608) successfully delivered

The well known US builder, Nordhavn, has successfully delivered the latest member of its Nordhavn 86 series, the luxury motor yacht Zembra, previously known as hull N8608. After coming from the factory in China in November, the Zembra superyacht underwent a four month commissioning in San Diego before being delivered to her new owners on February 5th.

Part of her 8-hour delivery trip included fueling the yacht completely with nearly 6,000 gallons of diesel into five tanks. She performed beautifully for her delighted new owners who are currently in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California. They will cruise the Sea of Cortez until the end of April, return to California for a check-up and then continue on to Alaska for the summer.

Horizon Group is happy to announce that its newest E84 motor yacht Virginia has successfully completed her sea trial in March and has been shipped to her new owner in Hong Kong in early April 2012. Futhermore, the Virginia superyacht will be presented for the first time at Hong Kong Gold Coast Boat Show, taking place from 11th to 13th May, 2012.

The E84 luxury yacht Virginia, which measures 89ft-6in(27.3 meters) in length and 20ft (6.1 meters) in beam, is powered by twin MAN 12V 1550HP engines and has an 18 knot cruising speed with a top speed of 22 knots. To meet the owner’s wishes for his new E84, the kitchen has been moved to the lower deck from the main deck to create a spacious, comfortable salon and dining room that allows for more natural light and a better main deck view.
