Fourth Moonen 97 Motor yacht ready to be launched by Moonen Yachts

May 05, 2011

Moonen Shipyards in the Netherlands is close to completing and lunching the fourth yacht in its much admired range of Moonen 97 steel-hulled displacement motor yachts. With sister ship motor yacht Livia being a finalist in the upcoming World Superyacht Awards, the yard is confident that a buyer will be found for the new Moonen 97 yacht by the time she is launched ahead of the sailing season.

Fourth Moonen 97 Motor yacht Sistership: the third Moonen 97 Superyacht Livia

A unique opportunity: “The latest technology now available without having to wait, ready for the 2011 season.”  “All the experiences gained by the yard and by the owners of the first three Moonen 97s have been integrated into number four,” says Emile Bilterijst, managing director of Moonen Shipyards. So that she will be the best of the series so far. And considering the third Moonen 97 is already a finalist in the Best Displacement Motor Yacht below 500GT category of the Word Superyacht Awards, this promises much for the new owners.”

Offering exceptional comfort at sea and anchor, a whisper-quiet performance and impeccable Dutch quality, the Moonen craftsmen are currently putting the finishing touches to this brand-new motoryacht. She will offer spacious accommodations for eight people in a neutral modern styling that will be sure to please all who step onboard. The full-beam master stateroom has an unusually large walk-in dressing room and the yacht also features an impressive VIP stateroom plus two guest suites. The Moonen 97 also has good crew accommodation for a yacht of this size, making it easily adapted to the chartering market.

The yacht will be state of the art in terms of technology, materials, layout and aesthetics. For example, Moonen Yachts introduced a new method of building in the pipe work in the accommodation areas and the fourth Moonen 97 yacht is the first yacht to benefit. The core construction was spray-painted before the pipes were laid. As welding work was no longer possible in the pristine environment, composite pipes were used for drink and chilled water. The overall result is a higher quality and an even better look. In a similar vein, all the pipes in the engine room have been painted before being laid.

A comprehensive sound and vibration attenuation programme is another major technical attribute. In addition to deploying the finest noise-absorbing insulation, Moonen has eliminated vibration at source by giving the highly skewed propeller 50 percent more clearance between the blade tip and hull surface. The Moonen 97 will also be exceptionally comfortable at anchor thanks to the installation of advanced Naiad zero-speed stabilizers. Moonen is known for its impeccable engineering and construction, and this Lloyd’s Registered and MCA approved yacht once again proves why.

The Moonen 97 is styled by René van der Velden. Her sleek low-profile exterior features an elegant flared bow, a sloping stern with twin stairways, a graceful sheer line and bold fashion plates. The round-bilged hull by Diana Yacht Design ensures superior seagoing comfort, while the economical shaping combines with major fuel tankage to give the Moonen 97 a transatlantic range.
