New images of the Sanlorenzo SL94 motor yacht series set for worldwide premiere in Monaco

July 25, 2011

Luxury  yacht builder Sanlorenzo has sent CharterWorld two new exterior images of the Sanlorenzo SL94 motor yacht which will be exhibited at the Genoa International Boat Show 2011 and launched in a worldwide premiere in Monaco on Friday September 23rd at the Yacht Club de Monaco.

Designed by Francesco Paszkowski and the in-house team, the 28.60m SL94 superyacht is built in composite at the San Lorenzo Ameglia shipyard.

The new SL94 yacht series was inspired by the successful SL104 series which introduced an evolution in the San Lorenzo style. The SL94 yacht series has a contemporary exterior profile boasting large windows and portholes enabling plenty of natural light to penetrate the interior. The yacht also features a flybridge with hardtop as an option that is largely customizable with furniture and decoration and is tender‐free thanks to the presence of a large stern tender garage.

Sanlorenzo SL94 has an unmistakable Sanlorenzo line, summarizing elegance, volume balance and a good ratio between the superstructure and sleek black windows.

The interior decoration of the first SL94 motor yacht was designed by Francesco Paszkowski. The owner selected a modern, sober style, enriched by a wide choice of materials. The large salon on the main deck is boasts wide windows and is totally separated from the dining room by the staircase leading to the lower deck and by the day‐toilet, making the living area an intimate area to relax.

The lower deck has a classical layout accommodating eight guests in four cabins. The full beam owner’s cabin is located mid‐ship, with the VIP cabin forward and two twin‐bed guest cabins in the middle.

The SL94 is in addition to the current line of Sanlorenzo products, now including planing hulls: SL62, SL72, SL82, SL88, SL94, SL104, SL108 & SL118, semi-displacement hulls: SD 92, SD108 & SD122 and 40m alloy, 46m steel and 60m steel.

45 M BILGIN Yacht ‘TATIANA’

July 24, 2011

BILGIN Shipyard has launched their new 45 metre superyacht ‘TATIANA’. The exterior and interior of yacht Tatiana has been designed by the well-known German superyacht designer Joachim Kinder from Munich. She combines the style of an open yacht with the volume and cruising comfort of a displacement yacht.

Motor yacht TATIANA is the second yacht to be built for the same client yacht owner. That sort of client loyalty obtains only when a shipyard works fastidiously and fairly to earn it.

EXTERIOR of M/Y TATIANA
The style of this true-four-deck yacht is very unique and sleek, evoked by fluent lines. Large window sections, uncommon design solutions and alignments of bulwark and stern area emphasis her length. Her hull colouring is supporting this powerful dynamic shape, like an utterly relaxed animal that seems ready to develop tremendous power at any moment. An aesthetic tension creates a sporty appeal. Consequently, the overall concept has been done from inside to outside in order to harmonise the hull’s lines with the yachts silhouette.

Her sizeable rectangularly portholes are another eye-catching trademark. The windows play a key role in creating this generous space – the light and spacious interior eliminates any distancing effect that could alienate guests from their environment, allowing them to integrate more fully with the yacht’s marine surroundings. The main deck forward as well as the upper deck aft superstructure are designed as a wide body in order to generate extraordinary interior space. Upper aftdeck and the flybridge are planned in such a manner, that this areas could be separated for owner usage only.

Continuing the theme of maximizing outside space, all outer decks are laid out with ample space and are well equipped with sunbathing beds, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, bars, chaises longues and seating areas on either ends, from bow to stern. These facilities and plenty of space allow several groups to be separated from each other for sitting, amusement or relaxing.

The fly bridge is dominated by a central swimming pool covered with BIZZASSA tiles and an adjacent sun bed. Nearly the entire fly bridge is shaded by a hardtop and easily convertible by retractable awning in an open area. A barbecue, an alfresco bar and a built -in L-shaped dining area as well as several chaises longues complete the arrangement. The space offers maximum comfort and great freedom of movement.

INTERIOR OF LUXURY YACHT TATIANA
The brief of the basic outline embodied certain aims: firstly, to create a feeling of spaciousness in every room, secondly, to incorporate a large number of rooms into the plan. This included, for instance, two richly equipped owners’ suites, a large foyer, a ‘state-of-the art’ cinema, four guest cabins and a spacious area for the crew, including the own mess.

In choosing the colour scheme, fabrics and materials, it has been sought to give the yacht lightness and a Mediterranean air with a timeless, classically elegant interior. Light oak has been selected in combination with wenge, beige and bourdeaux-red real leather contrasting with brushed stainless steel elements, as well as delicious displays of various granites and onyx.

The main salon is huge and has a large recessed ceiling overhead cassette with indirect illumination. One of the most interesting features in the salon is the ‘inside-outside’ bar, connected with a large sliding window part. A room divider, which is highlighted by a decorative partition glass wall, separates the living room from the dining room. Twelve people can sit around the dining table, surrounded by plenty of cabinets and sideboards. The salon is accessible through automatic aft glass sliding doors and two generous side sliding doors on each side.

Large attention has been paid for the galley. A great amount of refrigerators, a cooking island with large hob and a deep fryer, appliances from MIELE including a XXL oven and a trash compactor enable a professional cooking. The decor selection with wenge parquet, white high-gloss lacquered furniture and black KERROCK countertops creates on the other hand an elegant ambience.

From starboard side walkway you can enter the representative foyer with an artful granite floor mosaic. The cantilevered central staircase connects all decks with a beautiful atmosphere by the use of natural daylight.
Unusual for a yacht of this size: a professional equipped high-end cinema with a tremendous sound and view experience. The extensive library of films and songs can also be enjoyed in each cabin and public spaces by screens and a perfect HIFI sound system.

In the front of the maindeck one of the two owner’s-staterooms is located with a generous bathroom separable by a large wide automatically glass sliding door. The freestanding wash table is topped by a attracting organic shaped washbasin from the design-affine brand KANERA. Partition walls in satin and clear glass create generosity and the use of rich natural daylight.

At the lower two large-sized VIP- and two guest-cabins are placed. All of them with a spectacular view through the outstanding portholes, no claustrophobical feeling will occur. The cabins are outfitted with king size beds, en-suite bathrooms and flat screen TVs connected to the yacht’s sophisticated entertainment system. Two of those boast a third foldaway bed.

The most unique part of the Tatiana yacht is the owner’s-stateroom on upper deck with spa area (massage-room, steam room), a luxuriously bathroom, an extra study, a lot of light and an astonishing view to the outside because of the large surrounding windows. A huge flat screen TV is situated with a ‘pop-up’ unit in the ceiling. The TV is swivelling in a way to be useable for inside and outside. The alfresco deck with a Jacuzzi is construed for owner’s use only. In fact, with the exception of the wheelhouse, that entire deck is devoted to the owner. From here a well designed freestanding staircase sculpture leads to the fly bridge.

The pilothouse is dominated with an wink shaped dashboard, boast all of the most up-to-date instrumentation and, of course, very high tech solutions to control the engines. A raised sofa allows guests to observe the yacht operating and to have a glorious panoramic overview.

The crew quarter is located in the forward section and provides accommodation for the skipper and 8 others. Each cabin includes plenty of storage as well as a bathroom with KERROCK countertops. The crew mess contains a large seating are and a pantry.

Tender, two jet skis and water sport equipment are situated in the aft garage.

Yacht TATIANA has an exceptionally clearly laid-out engine room in which each piece of equipment is easily accessible.

Riva launches the 8th 115’ Athena motor yacht at the Ferretti shipyard

July 19, 2011

The 8th hull of RIVA’s 115’ Athena motor yacht series has been launched at the Ferretti Group shipyard in La Spezia, Italy. The semi-custom superyacht Athena 115 is the flagship of the Riva fleet.

Riva launches the 8th 115’ Athena motor yacht at the Ferretti shipyard

Riva, a Ferretti Group brand has always shown great skill in designing and building large yachts, which it designs and produces with a passion, painstaking care and attention to the tiniest of details, which have made Riva yachts a symbol of yachting quality for over 150 years.

The launch of the eighth 115’ Athena motor yacht is proof of their huge success which continues to increase over the years.

The 115 Athena yacht features an aggressive bow, advanced deckhouse, elegant colours and precious woods, also covering the walkways, make this yacht a perfect combination of modernity and stylistic refinement.

Moreover, owners can take an active part in deciding the interior layout of their yachts. Being able to count on the ability of Officina Italiana Design, which designs all the yachts in the Riva range, and the skill of Centro Stile FerrettiGroup, the Owner can choose the combinations which best adapt to their taste and requirements from a wide range of quality woods and fabrics. The number of guest cabins can vary between 4 and 5 and the lunch area provides for separate routes for the crew, ensuring the guests enjoy complete privacy.

For example, the owner of the 8th hull of the 115’ Athena just launched opted for 5 cabins including an extension of the master cabin at bow choosing Canaletto walnut combined with naturally coloured and dark brown leather inserts.

Riva launches the 8th hull of the 115’ Athena motor yacht series at the Ferretti shipyard

This Athena 115 yacht also has an important innovation. Besides developing a number of personalised technical features, AYT – Advanced Yacht Technology – the Ferretti Group’s naval research and design centre, took this opportunity to make changes to the functionality of the bow garage and swim platform of the 115’ Athena series. This is, in fact, the first Athena with a stern helm position which provides for the raise-lower system. This mechanism makes it possible to lower the tender into the water easily and means guests can enjoy contact with the sea by means of the stern swim platform.

Meticulous care for detail and painstaking attention to design are the leitmotivs accompanying the different areas of the M/Y 115’ Athena superyacht which features examples of valuable contemporary Italian design. Moreover, harmony and elegance develop in a true ‘lounge’ philosophy, perceptible even in the tiniest of details. ‘Lounge’ is an atmosphere which one breathes in the corridors and different areas of this yacht, thanks to the large windows which let in natural light, but also in the “skylounge” on the flybridge, a distinctive feature of this model. Ten people can be accommodated comfortably in this area, which is enclosed by two large windows providing a 360° panoramic view. This unusual space, designed on the standard version as either an air-conditioned media-room or another cosy, relaxing salon, can be completely reinterpreted according to an Owner’s taste, even becoming an additional cabin if they so wish.

The remaining part of the flybridge has been set out for relaxing, open air activities, such as the use of the Jacuzzi whirlpool included in the standard version, but can also be modified according to the Owner’s preferences.

Surrounded by quality, class and luxury, the cruises offered by 115’ Athena become unforgettable thanks to twin MTU 12V 4000 M90 2775hp engines, too, which guarantee a top speed of 27 knots and a cruise speed of 23.

Baltic Yachts to deliver BALTIC 112 Sailing yacht Canova

July 19, 2011

The 37.5m superyacht Canova was launched by Baltic Yachts in May 2011 and will be delivered to her new owner later this month. The Baltic Yachts 112 yacht Canova is a sailing yacht that was specifically designed for circumnavigating the globe. Baltic Yachts has the pleasure to exhibit the newly launched Baltic 112 sailing yacht Canova during Monaco Yacht Show 2011 from 21-24 September 2011.

BALTIC 112 Sailing yacht Canova by Baltic Yachts and Judel/Vrolijk

BALTIC 112 Sailing yacht Canova by Baltic Yachts and Judel/Vrolijk

BALTIC 112 Sailing yacht Canova features naval architecture by Judel & Vrolijk as well as Italian naval architect Alex Vismara who worked closely with the owner, bringing his design input into the boat. Baltic’s own in-house design teams provided much of the technical details for the boat. R&J Design worked on the hull, deck, interior, plumbing and hydraulics, while Flink Engineering provided specifications for the electrics and electronics.

BALTIC 112 Sailing yacht Canova will be delivered by Baltic Yachts in July 2011

The owner from Italy already has a good relationship with the Baltic yard and has already completed his first global circumnavigation with his current Baltic yacht.  This time he was intent on doing it with the minimum number of port stopovers, remaining as independent as possible from needing to refuel and restock the boat in harbours and marinas. The challenge for the Finnish boat builder Baltic Yachts and the other partners in this Canova yacht project was to incorporate sufficient storage capacity without compromising the high levels of performance which have become the trademark of every Baltic yacht.

BALTIC 112 Sailing yacht Canova will have her World premiere at Monaco Boat Show 2011

“The owner is leaving it up to us to work out many of the technical hull and deck details, but what he has been very specific about is wanting to get sufficient water and fuel capacity for some proper, ocean-going, long-distance sailing. During his voyage he wants to remain as independent as possible from needing to refuel and restock the boat in harbours and marinas.” Said Kenneth Nyfelt, Sales Manager at Baltic Yachts.

Having the superyacht Canova designed as a high storage capacity boat, Project Manager Jouni Hirvenkivi put this into perspective. “In Baltic Yachts terms, a fuel capacity of 6000 litres is certainly significant, but not so much as to unduly affect the performance of the boat. One of the great advantages of constructing a light boat is that it also allows you to save on fuel capacity, because the boat is so easily driven.

“The good thing from a design perspective is that we don’t have to spread the fuel storage all around the boat, we can centralise the weight of the fuel tank in the hull,” said Hirvenkivi. The hull is due to be constructed of E-glass and aramid, with carbon fibre reinforcements in heavily loaded areas, such as the beams and stringers. The rig is carbon fibre so there are still strong elements of high performance in the 112-footer, but what will distinguish it from other superyachts of this size is the attention to detail in the lavishly-decorated interior.

The Baltic 112 Canova has a classical interior, featuring traditional materials mahogany. The owner is known to be an admirer of the Baltic 141 sailing yacht Canica launched in 2003, which is another Judel/Vrolijk design with a number of classic features that the owner of the Baltic 112 S/Y Canova wanted to emulate.

BALTIC 112 Sailing yacht Canova Interior

BALTIC 112 Sailing yacht Canova Interior

One of the challenges of the Canova yacht project was to remain faithful to the aesthetics of the yacht whilst also meeting the requirements of one of the classification societies. “The requirements for safety equipment and safety margins are quite high, which is a good thing,” says Nyfelt. “We are confident that the Baltic 112 j/v will fulfil all the safety requirements without compromising the aesthetic intentions of the owner.”

According to Hirvenkivi the Canova sailing yacht, and particularly the deck and rig controls, have been designed with shorthanded sailing in mind. Most of the sail controls can be managed from the safety of the cockpit. Safety is a high priority in every area. “We discussed quite a lot about ‘what if’ situations – for example the owner plans to have completely separate portable navigational electronics, stored in aluminium case, with the idea that he has a back-up, almost no matter what happens. It is part of a way of thinking, of wanting to be as self-sufficient as possible. I think this boat will have a very interesting life. If everything goes as planned, this boat will be launched in 2011 and it won’t be long before she sets sail on her voyage around the world.”

Designer’s comment

The B112 judel/vrolijk & co sailing yacht Canova was designed for an experienced sailor who enjoys the pleasure of a really fast sailing yacht. To fulfil the needs of long distance cruising to exotic and remote waters, the decision was made to put the focus on safety and comfort and therefore to go for an e-glass sandwich hull. Designing to the same stiffness, this material leads to slightly thicker skins of the hull shell compared to a full carbon hull and therefore the hull becomes quieter and gets a bit of extra safety against impact damage.

Nevertheless it was the goal to create a real performance yacht that allows for fast ocean passages and easy handling of the yacht. Therefore the boat has been projected with a lift keel concept, that has been designed to achieve a reasonable, but not extreme shallow draft of approx. 3.3 m with keel up and that provides a deep draft of 5.5 when the keel is fully lowered to combine a proper righting moment with a moderate ballast weight and to end up with a ratio of weight, ballast and sail area that allows for good sailing performance.

With this concept in conjunction with a clever and lightweight structural grid, a carbon rig and consequent weight saving in interior construction and system concept design, it was possible to drop the weight of the yacht to approx. 93 t and therefore to stay more than 20 t away from the typical weight of a cruising boat of this size and comfort level.

Superyacht CODECASA 42m Vintage Series launched

July 15, 2011

The well known Italian shipayard Codecasa have launched the first motor yacht Hull F73 from their newest CODECASA 42m VINTAGE yacht series on the 30th June, 2011. The Hull F73 motor yacht Codecasa 42 Vintage offers luxury accommodation to either private owners or charter guests in one Owner’s suite, two double cabins and two twin cabins, sleeping a total of 10 guest.  Codecasa 42-metre Vintage superyacht, powered by two Caterpillar 3512C (1650Hp at 1800rpm), reaches a maximum speed of 17 knots and has a range of 4,000 nautical miles at a comfortable speed of 11 knots.

As a matter of fact, the new Codecasa 42 Vintage series yacht project of the historical Shipyard of Viareggio, follows known paths to mark out new roads and turns towards the past, not with the melancholic attempt to celebrate something that is lost, but rather, with the purpose of recovering a timeless style and to find in it the push to jump into the future.

Motor Yacht Codecasa 42m Vintage lines with a faintly retro taste co-exist with a forefront technology; the safety assured by last generation outfits goes together with a d’antan style that is still able to rouse new and exciting emotions; the richness of its precious materials matches with an intentionally simple and decontracté design, which is entrusted to Arch.s Della Role, with whom the Shipyard since years has developed an active co-operation.

The first Codecasa 42 Vintage Series Yacht launched in Italy

The first Codecasa 42 Vintage Series Yacht launched in Italy

From a past age, not too far away, this new Codecasa 42m Vintage superyacht (hull F73) is  taking her inspiration for her plain and traditional lines, that recall the main features of vessels that have made the history of the yachting, such as Moratti family’s mythic “Paraggina” or the equally legendary “Marlin”, owned by the Kennedys. And like these ones, perhaps, also this boat has the ambition to be one day recognized by her captivating silhouette and pointed out as the yacht that has marked the beginning of a new era in the shipbuilding and opened new boundaries in the luxury.

As a reply to the slender profiles and sleek lines that have characterized (or rather standardized) the yachts of the last generation, finally on the horizon looms a boat with outlines that are temptingly firm, clean and compact. A boat that does not attack the sea but rather harmoniously combines with it.

All over on board of the new motor yacht Codecasa 42 Vintage the interiors are dominated by light and by the white colors of marbles for pavements and bathrooms, but also of the lacquered wood used for wardrobes and panellings. Each pavement area is decorated with border lines of the same colour of the fabrics used in every single area of this elegant boat.

The 66.9m sailing yacht Hetairos built under the project name Panamax has been launched by Baltic Yachts. S/Y Hetairos, launched at Baltic Yachts yard in Pietarsaari, Finland features naval architecture and exterior lines designed by Reichel Pugh Yacht Design in collaboration with Dykstra & Partners, with interior styling designed by Rhoades Young Design. The modern classic ketch Hetairos boasts a distinctive appearance with an aggressive, near-plumb bow and a very long stern overhang, reminiscent of the British pilot cutters that sailed the seas in the mid- to late- 1800s.

The impressive fast ketch rigged sailing superyacht Hetairos was referred to as Panamax when under construction which relates to the maximum mast height that can pass through Panama Canal which is 62.5m. The megayacht measures 66.9m overall with a waterline length of 49.8 m and a beam of 10.5 m. Despite her epic proportions, she has been designed provide an impressive performance overall. The Yacht owner wanted to build a yacht with a classic look that was the largest and fastest possible yacht that would still be capable of crossing the Panama Canal.

The Hetairos (Panamax) modern classic yacht has a hull built out of High Tech Carbon with pre-impregnated carbon skins and Corecell and Nomex Core. The light weight and stiff construction of the hull, her deck made of carbon prepreg with a Nomex core as well as an emphasis on a lightweight interior all helps to provide weight savings which is expected to help her to attain an impressive sailing performance, especially when married with her deep lifting keel for extra upwind pointing.

Yacht Hetairos’ interior by Rhoades Young is intended to sympathise with the yacht’s classic exterior design with a strong Colonial influence making use of hardwood veneered joinery and white painted panelling on lightweight substrates, incorporating rich colours and textures to reflect an Asian influence.

Accommodations onboard superyacht Hetairos includes an expansive owners suite located aft of the mizzen mast with a skylight providing impressive straight up the mizzen mast and 4 guest cabins for a total of up to 10 guests. Ten crew members are housed in 4 crew cabins and a Captain’s cabin.

The Hetairos superyacht by Baltic Yachts has been launched and delivery of the yacht is expected to take place soon.

Now that the Baltic Yachts 197ft Hetairos Ketch sailing yacht is launched she has the new title of being the largest and fastest superyacht capable of navigating the Panama Canal and is also the  largest yacht to have been built from carbon-fibre composite.

The Hetairos (Panamax project) is also the first superyacht to bring together Baltic Yachts with Dykstra & Partners naval architects for the first time – hopefully a collaboration we will see more of in the future.
