Vitters Shipyard has recently announced the beginning of the construction of a high-quality Performance Cruising Sloop. This 33 meter Vitters sailing yacht MM33, boasting naval architecture and exterior styling by Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design, represents the first yacht under built for this new design studio. The relationship between Vitters and Naval Architect Malcolm McKeon goes back many years and this new 33m Vitters superyacht project MM33 provides both, the builder and the designer, an opportunity to expand on their cooperation in high performance light weight construction.

Clients’ brief called for a comfortable and well performing go anywhere sailing yacht. Comfort and sailing characteristics are high on the agenda and the shipyard will dedicate a vast amount of attention to noise and vibration control, while keeping a good eye on weight goals. Sailing performance is of course paramount and also in this case sail handling and control will be state of the art. Her lifting keel, with a stroke between 5.0 and 3.75 meter, offers the combination between good upwind performance and access to shallow waters and anchorages.

The lightweight hull of this 33 meter Vitters sailing yacht by Malcolm McKeon shall be constructed of carbon fibre composite and is under construction at Green Marine, Vitters’ composite subsidiary in Southampton, UK. The successful combination of expertise has successful predecessors like sailing yachts Ghost, Cinderella, charter yacht Sarissa and last but not least Inouï superyacht. The carbon fibre hull is scheduled for completion in June 2015.

The interior design by Design Unlimited will be executed in light coloured wood will have a feel and touch of a proper superyacht. While working towards the 33 meter’s delivery, all Vitters Shipyard’s efforts are concentrated to achieve the highest quality and performance for the yacht. To obtain these standards while building this yacht, requires a down-to-earth mentality to translate the owner’s vision into practice.

Vitters Shipyard is a renowned Dutch builder of large superyachts. Over the past 24 years the yard has completed large custom sailing yachts up to 66 meter with currently an 85 meter under construction. The Vitters team builds one or two unique high-quality sailing yachts per year to suit their owners like a glove. These mega yachts win regattas, comfortably host family get-aways, and turn heads wherever they are in the world.

Vitters Shipyard’s in-house build and engineering team pro-actively cooperate with external specialists. Creativity is not only a singular skill but also a function of the collaborative team effort. Vitters Shipyard constantly strives to make the impossible possible on-board, and to deliver extraordinary yachts on budget and on time.

She will be delivered in 2016 at Vitters Shipyard in Zwartsluis, The Netherlands.
