Nick Mezas is proud to introduce his new 30m motor yacht concept design, representing a well-thought-out 2,5 deck split level ship. The idea behind the 30m Nick Mezas superyacht concept has everything to do with connecting the guests of the yacht to the environment.

Being brought up on the waters around Curacao, Mezas got inspired to design a yacht for young families who share a passion for outdoor living. Especially for those families keen on an on board experience where awareness for the environment and safety on board are considered important.

While staying aboard, the elements like the meteorological circumstances, effects of sea state etc. are filtered to provide only the benefits of the outdoor life and not the inconveniences. This will contribute to a safe and pleasant internal environment, which will undoubtedly be appreciated by young families while enjoying their holidays.

Connecting to the environment is fully integrated in the design. Like the wide and spacious windows with sliding doors on either side of the dining table. The sliding doors will give a panoramic view and enable the ambient sounds and breeze the opportunity to get into the indoor living spaces.

In various lounges and living areas a wide and sheltered view is created. Sheltered enough to be protected against the elements and open enough to enjoy the environment.

“Details like the height and the angle of the seats or the distance to the table top all make a difference in the way surroundings can be perceived. Whether you are inside or outside, I make sure guests will achieve the level of privacy they desire but still enjoy the location and the views,” Mezas explains.

Unusual for a 30m superyacht design is the wide body on the main deck. This results in extra interior space, which will be a welcome fact for young families. The yacht offers accommodation in 4 cabins on both the main- and lower deck for a total of 8 guests. The layout also provides space for 5 crewmembers and storage for water sports equipment. Nick Mezas invested a lot of time to come up with a practical, functional and spacious layout, which provides maximum privacy for guests, by allowing crew to move virtually unseen throughout the yacht through separate crew corridors and staircases.

The 30m Nick Mezas luxury yacht design has several ecological aspects and aims to leave a minimum footprint in the environment. Therefore Nick Mezas approached Naval Architect Menno van Dijk from Studio Delta. “The 2,5 deck can be constructed using light weight material, and will have the benefit that it will result in a low fuel consumption while at cruising speed, which can be considered another environmentally friendly factor,” Menno explains.

The 30m Nick Mezas yacht concept is designed for cruising and staying in coastal waters. In particular for exploring the environment in a prudent way. The yacht will be equipped with a water jet driven tender which is stowed on the main deck towards the bow. Water jet propulsion does not damage the seabed and the underwater life. To further boost the concept of the environmentally friendly lifestyle, Studio Delta integrated an on board sewage treatment system in the concept. All discharged water will have been purified by this system. The interior styling, the on board technology and additional equipment are naturally, the choice of the owner.

To get a bird’s-eye view of the yacht’s surroundings, you take the stairs up to the sun deck. Here, guests can choose to either go sunbathing or simply relax in the shade, created by the sun deck’s roof. Guests can also choose to enjoy another sunbathing area which is located just in front of the split level bridge. When the day turns into night, there is a cozy seating area with a large round table at the yacht’s stern for outside dining and some quality time with family and friends.

The lines of the 30m Nick Mezas yacht are clean and have sharp angles. “As with my other designs, I aim to create a modern but classic look that gives off a timeless feel. I want to be innovative in my designs but I also make sure they will still look fresh and modern twenty years from now,” Mezas explains.

The 30m, 2.5 deck split level superyacht design by Nick Mezas is a clear example of exactly that, moreover, she puts the focus on a more sustainable future for generations to come.

Inspiration for the 30m 2.5 deck split level design

Nick Mezas says: “The initial challenge I set for this project was to come up with a modern 30 meter design that made the most of the space on board, without compromising the aesthetic appearance of the yacht. I wanted to somehow incorporate a full beam owner’s cabin or wide body on the main deck yet still keep a sporty, aggressive looking profile. During sketching it became clear that a vertical bow was best suited for the profile to work. Then came the fun and exciting process of designing an attractive, functional and practical layout for a total of 8 guests including the owners and 4 crew plus one captain. I always enjoy this stage in the design process, especially on a project such as this because at first it might seem impossible to get all the design ideas to work together harmoniously, yet thru perseverance it always works out!”

The General Arrangement of the 30m Nick Mezas Yacht Concept

The Lower Deck

The lower deck of the yacht features one VIP guest cabin towards the bow, 2 twin guest cabins on the port- and starboard side, a captain’s cabin and a spacious galley on the starboard side with direct access to the Engine Room. A short walk through the Engine Room reveals a door that leads to the crew mess together with two cabins for 4 crewmembers in the stern of the yacht. There is also a staircase that runs from the crew area up to the Main Deck and opens via an exterior door on the yacht’s port side. This prevents undue passage through guest areas by the crew and maximises the guests privacy. There is also a food lift running from the galley to a pantry on the main deck which makes serving dinner a delight.

The Main Deck

One of the bigger design challenges was to incorporate a full beam owner’s cabin on the main deck. This wide body, rarely seen on yachts of this size, not only provides the owner’s with more floor space, but the elevated views through the large wide body windows is unmatched by for example, having the owner’s cabin on the lower deck!

The main salon offers a lounge area which invites guests to sit back and relax as well as a dining table for 8 persons. This whole area can be opened up to the yacht’s surroundings thanks to large sliding doors and balconies opposite to the dining table.

There is also a day head on the port side and comes with arguably the best view a day head on a 30m yacht can offer thanks to the wide body window.

Stepping outside, guests can either sit down at the large round table at the stern of the yacht and enjoy the fresh breeze with drinks and snacks or, when in the mood for sunbathing, move towards the bow where they find a large sunbed. The yacht’s water jet driven tender is stowed under the sunbed.

The Split Level Bridge and Sun Deck

Guests can also enjoy themselves in the split level bridge as there are seating areas dedicated especially for those who enjoy watching the ever changing horizon while cruising in total comfort. The same can be done on the sun deck which features a fly-bridge helm, a cosy shaded seating area, another large sunbed and loads of deck space for even more sunbathing or storing water toys during cruising.
