FRANCESCO PETRARCA, the triple masted schooner originally built as a commercial sailing vessel in 1941 by Benetti sailing yachts in Italy was lovingly restored by the joint efforts of three different owners over four years. FRANCESCO PETRARCA was made from massive oak planks scaling 100 mm thick on a very narrow framework and fitted out with an inner planking (called “sheeting”). She was a sturdy build, made to carry heavy marble blocks from Carrara to ports throughout the Mediterranean. The yacht was registered as a private yacht for 40 years then in until 2006 after 4 years worth or restoration she became a commercial registered charter vessel, once again seaworthy, strong, and beautiful.
