This sailing yacht ETHEREAL is a 58 metre 190 (ft) impressive alustar boat which was crafted at Royal Huisman and conceived by Ron Holland Design and Pieter Beeldsnijder Design. Launched to celebration in the year of 2008 the recent interior design exhibits the neoteric flair of Pieter Beeldsnijder Design.
ETHEREAL has the perfect blend of traditional, classic and modern yacht lines. The design brief was to push the edges of current knowledge to create a yacht which can not only operate independently but also energy-efficiently for extended period of time. Her hybrid electromechanical propulsion system allows the yacht to charge its technically advanced bank of lithium polymer batteries while under sail instead of using generators. This energy bank enables sailing yacht ETHEREAL to raise anchor, motor, hoist sails and run ship’s systems under stored electrical power. The automation system is another unique feature of this exceptional yacht. The yacht consists of 21 computers that control the alarm and monitoring system. Out of 21, 18 custom PC based room controllers maintain the room’s environment by operating air-conditioning, lighting, shades and display yacht information, charts and cameras. The rest of the computers are available for guest use in the Master cabin and Guest study.
Ron Holland Design was the naval architect involved in the technical vessel design work for ETHEREAL. Her interior design was conceived by Pieter Beeldsnijder Design.
