Yacht Charter Description

AKIKO (Ex VvS1) is a 32,40m (106’4’’) tri-deck expedition style motoryacht which was built by the renowned New Zealand shipyard, Alloy Yachts and was launched in 2007. The vessel has been well maintained by her attentive and professional crew over the years, and in addition received a comprehensive refit in 2016.

AKIKO is built with an aluminium hull, featuring naval architecture by Gregory C Marshall Naval Architects, while the interior design has been developed in collaboration between the owners, Gregory C Marshall and Alloy Yachts design office.

The interior timber joinery features American white oak panels with white stain and is finished with a slightly raised and exposed grain. Beautiful authentic aboriginal art is features throughout the entire vessel, adding an inviting and homely atmosphere to the yacht.

AKIKO’s accommodation includes a full-beam master suite facing forward, located on the bridge deck, one VIP cabin on the main deck and three guest cabins forward on the lower deck. All cabins have en-suite bathroom facilities. The master suite includes a bathroom with his and hers sink, a separate toilet, walk-in wardrobe and a large shower.

The yacht’s luxury saloon and dining area for eight/ten guests is situated on the main deck. There is a stylish lounge area forward of the dining area with a large sofa and TV room / library. The aft main deck has yet another possibility for dining, this time al fresco, for up to ten charter guests, seated on a sofa and five comfortable chairs.

The galley is located on the main deck between the dining room and aft deck dining area. Meals can be served directly to the interior or exterior bars forward and aft of the galley. A Teppanyaki bar is located on the fly bridge, while aft on the bridge deck is a full sized gymnasium and cinema. Dive equipment and compressor are located in the lazarette.

Twelve to fourteen guests can be seated in a lounge setting on the fly bridge; a perfect setting to enjoy a pre-dinner aperitif or post-dinner cocktails and canapés. Guests can relax on the comfortable sofa facing forward or enjoy a movie on the large pop-up TV screen. This area can be enclosed for additional protection from the weather.

AKIKO is fitted with active roll stabilisers and carries 34000 litres of fuel. She cruises at 12 knots and has a range of 4000 nautical miles. Outside docking stations are located on her port and starboard bridge wings and a further station aft on the bridge deck.

The yacht has three tenders: One of these is a Naiad 10.5m Twin Jet and there are two 5.5m Barra boats (when in Kimberley) . Both tenders are launched from the bridge deck by the ships hydraulic crane. The swim platform has a live bait tank as well as a BBQ.

Water toys include two three-person wave runners, two kayaks, SUP, surfboards, extensive fishing and spearfishing equipment, scuba and diving equipment. The crew includes qualified Dive Masters and Master Fishermen.

She has a 7.72 m (25.4 ft) beam, draft 2.40m (7.10 ft) and 281 gross tons. The yacht is powered by two Caterpillar 3406E diesel engines, each 475 hp (354 kw).

Interesting Fact:
ākikō is a traditional Maori transition of "at a distance from home". Her owners wanted to find a name that reflects the yacht’s country of origin - New Zealand.

The modern motor yacht AKIKO has luxurious accommodation for up to 10 guests in five cabins and accommodates a crew of six. Guest accommodation includes one master suite, one VIP suite and three guests cabins.
