Tips for a Luxury Yacht Charter Vacation in the French Riviera

Before chartering a superyacht in the French Riviera refer to the best tips below.

8 Tips for a French Riviera Luxury Yacht Charter Vacation:

One thing’s for sure, having a luxury yacht vacation in the French Riviera is great fun. Here are 8 tips why you should visit the French Riviera on board a spectacular superyacht.

1. Don’t expect chartering a superyacht to the French Riviera to be cheap.

Monaco, Cannes and St Tropez are some of the most glamorous places in the world with a party atmosphere 24/7. Have a fantastic time in the many night clubs and casinos until it’s time to return to your superyacht in the harbour.

Prices for a table in one of the top clubs could cost around 5,000 Euros, however for that price you might only get a couple of bottles of champagne!

2. Do a little research before heading to the French Riviera.

There are many fabulous events taking place in the French Riviera so do a little research before setting off. The Cannes Film Festival and the Grand Prix in Monaco draw thousands of visitors on board luxury superyachts that anchor in the ports. Vessels are used as a base for guests to step ashore and do lots of partying. You’ll have to pay high prices for the best locations, but at the end of the day, it’s worth it.

3. Porquerolles in the French Riviera

For a quieter vacation and to get away from the crowds, Porquerolles is the ideal place to charter a superyacht to. It also has some excellent diving sites and due to its closeness to the Gulf de Lyon, the water gets cleaned so there’s plenty of sea life here. Not many jellyfish come to Porquerolles making bathing safe for everyone.

4. Watch out for jellyfish

It has to be said that the French Riviera occassionally has jellyfish. Check with your broker about this season. Barriers are erected during the summer to make swimming safer for visitors. You could find inflatable swimming pools which protect swimmers from these pesky creatures. Stay safe.

5. Visit the French Riviera in September

When August is over and the French Riviera is quiet, think about visiting in the month of September. The waters are warm and there are not so many people around. Restaurants and bars provide a welcome to all visitors as they aren’t so busy. September is definitely a great time to see the French Riviera in all of its glory.

6. Your superyacht on board chef

Prices of meals in French Riviera restaurants are sometimes quite exorbitant. This is because many people come and go so restauranteurs aren’t bothered about having repeat custom.

Stay on board your luxury superyacht to eat. Prices of meals are included in the overall price, so why not take advantage of this? Your chef will be a professional in his trade providing you with your favourite meals and offering some unique menus too. If you feel you should give the crew time off from their duties, don’t worry. They won’t mind staying on board to make sure you have a relaxing meal or barbecue.

7. Take a trip inland

If you’ve the time, take a trip inland of the French Riviera. There are some beautiful areas to see. Behind Cannes for instance there’s Mougins while behind Antibes you have Biot. The gorgeous towns of Eze and La Turbie are well worth a visit with their fantastic restaurants and friendly locals. A minibus can easily be arranged to take you to some amazing places that get a little forgotten about.

8. Flexibility is the key on the Cote d’Azur

Being flexible when chartering a superyacht is the key to having a great time. You can stick to your itinerary or just go with the flow. If the weather isn’t too good at one place, it might be hotter at another.

The weather often dictates whether a vacation is good or not so good. Take into account the forecast, you don’t want to be caught in windy weather when out on the tenders or water toys. Crew go out of their way so guests have the most wonderful holiday ever, let them suggest times and places to anchor in.
