Captain
Michael Andersson, Swedish. Born 1958

Michael started his boating career as a small boy in his home fishing-village in the south of Sweden. After many years active dinghy and keelboat racing he took a position at Swan Charter and delivered a Swan 47' from Denmark to the West Indies. This started his yachting career as such and he has since then skippered yachts such as Luisemar V, BeMine, Xanadu, and Headlines. Michael has been on-board New Century since she was built. He has a Swedish class 3 certificate, a cool temperament and good general knowledge. Languages: Swedish, English, German and knowledge of Turkish and Spanish.
 
Alternating Captain
Rob Verity, British. Born 1960

 
Rob has 22 years of yachting experience and he will certainly be an asset to New Century. He has worked on both private and charter yachts basically all over the world. He has held various positions on yachts and has been working as a captain since 1986. Rob has a very pleasant personality, is disciplined and he has a wide knowledge of many regions. He has a MCA Master degree and GMDSS. He loves sport and has competed in cycling, run marathons and done serious paragliding. Rob also likes classical music and reading.
 
Purser/Chief Stewardess
Monica Pennekamp, German, Born 1960

Monica started to sail already before berth, as her parents were keen sailors. In 1986 she started her first yacht job and has been involved in mega yachts for 10 years. She has been working with Michael on the yachts Luisemar V, BeMine, Xanadu, Headlines and of course New Century. She is a hard working organizer and has great interest in painting, art's and interior design. Monica speaks German, English and has knowledge of Swedish, Turkish and Spanish.
 
Alternating Purser/Chief Stewardess
Vicky Verity, South African, Born 1966

Vicky has been working on yachts together with Rob since 1988. She has been working as stewardess/hostess/chef on both private and charter boats during the years. Yachts that she has worked on include Vivaldi, Spirit of Bowfish and Jagare. Vicky is hard working and enjoys a challenge. She likes entertaining people and has a very good service experience. Being a qualified swimming and aqua aerobics instructor you will find her energetic and sporty. She speaks English and Afrikaans. Vicky will look after the guests in the same professional manner as Monica.


Engineer
Andrzej Skrzypa, Polish, Born 1963

Prior to hiss career in merchant shipping, Andrzej was a teacher in technical engineering in his hometown of Settin in Poland. He became a resident of Sweden while working for a company there for a couple of years. Andrzej started sailing on merchant ships in 1988. He holds the highest engineering qualifications, and has vast technical experience - normally used to working on generators bigger than New Century's main engines.


Alternating Engineer
Denis Predovan, Croat, Born 1962

Denis is a licensed Marine engineer (STCW chief engineer). He started working on yachts in 1982 and has an impressive background on commercial vessels. with both feet firmly on the ground, Dennis is a calm and responsible person. He not only has extensive engineering skills, he is also friendly and helpful to all people. Dennis speaks English, Croatian and Italian.
 
Mate
Karl Beve, Swedish, Born 1975

Karl grew up amongst boats on the West Coast of Sweden. and started to race internationally at the age of 15. Karl has worked on the icebreaker HMS Ale, on the topsail schooner HMS Gladan and has been on board New Century since October 2003. Karl also has a great interest in floor-ball and diving. He has a good sense of humour and a pleasant personality.


Chef
Per Edwards, Swedish, Born 1975

Per will certainly make sure that your stay aboard New Century will be filled with delicious and mouth watering meals. He has 10 years experience in the food industry and has worked at many renowned establishments around the world. He strongly believes that cooking and presentations should be kept simple but with the best possible ingredients. Per speaks Swedish and English and he is interested in food, wine, golf and hunting. He also has a great sense of humour. Per will make sure that you really want to come back to the yacht!


Steward
Alexander Gowman, British, Born 1974

Alexander comes from the hospitality/service industry where he has worked at various positions ranging from waiter to manager. His skills include butler and silver service as well as a knowledge of wine. He is highly motivated and knows the importance of good service. He is calm and relaxed and he works well under stress. As he has travelled a lot he knows how to get along with a wide variety of people.
 
Stewardess
Zdenka "Sid" Kupcikova, Czech, Born 1981

Sid has just started in the yachting industry but has great experience from the hotel and restaurant sector. She has a diploma in hotel management and speaks fluent English, Czech and Slovak as well as intermediate Spanish and basic German. She is a lively, enthusiastic and highly motivated person. Sid enjoys taking care of other people and does not mind working long hours, always with a smile on her face.


Deckhand
Trevor Ohlssen, South African, Born 1978

Born in Cape Town, Trevor has been sailing all his live. He decided very early to try out the nautical career and was working locally before joining New Century in the spring of 2003 in Mallorca. He has a record as sailing instructor and has been working in the States with training in holiday camps.
