Hydra Yacht Charter

Wild, beautiful and unspoilt, Hydra is situated within the Saronic Islands with an idyllic main town and the perfect landscape for exploration by luxury yacht charter. Discover hidden coves and bays, enjoy summer art shows or take a donkey ride around the island. Hydra is one of a triangle of islands that have become known as the new Greek Riviera. The others are Elafonisos, Monemvasia, Nafplion, Ermioni, Spetses and Porto Heli. The entire group of islands offers breath-taking scenery, wonderful cruising grounds and amazing beaches. There’s a great combination of cosmopolitan and traditional offerings here too including many historical monuments.

Discover why Hydra has such a stellar reputation among the luxury yachting community and spend your days among its heavenly green fields and pale, primary-coloured beaches.

Cobblestone streets lead off from the central port of Hydra and offer an abundance of opportunities to discover the town by yourself, or plan your itinerary to pack in as much as possible. Museums, cathedrals and ruins are all accessible by foot, but to go farther away from the town centre hire a bike or a donkey as cars are banned on the island. In the evenings, the town comes alive with a thriving bar and restaurant scene, and there is enough choice for you to eat out somewhere different each night if you desire.

The public transport on Hydra is by donkey: There are no vehicles allowed which means the air is clean and the wild landscape untouched. It’s a very popular yachting destination in the Eastern Mediterranean with a craggy coastline that is best seen from a deck on board your charter yacht. Hydra means “water” and was named because of the many springs found here. With its white alley ways, Greystone mansions and delightful harbour town, it’s perfection with a capital “P”. The locals move at a slow pace enjoying everything around them. In the summer months collectors and international artists descend on Hydra to attend art shows either in the slaughterhouse or the ramshackle high school – an experience to join in on with the opportunity to gain a memorable souvenir of your trip.

The unique appeal of this splendid island is that the boutiques, cultural activities and tavernas haven’t changed much over the last few decades. This brings a touch of the “real Greece” to Hydra. It’s not difficult to see why some many people visit the island year after year mooring their vessels in the tiny picturesque port.
